Asanti Background

Established in 1991, Asanti Fine Jewellers is a European-style salon specializing in personal service and the finest in rare gems, timepieces and designer jewellery. Located in downtown San Marino, Asanti’s sprawling showroom sparkles with thousands of exquisite classics meticulously created of gold, platinum and radiant stones. A second boutique resides inside the Ritz-Carlton Huntington Hotel & Spa in Pasadena.

Asanti was founded by President Nelson Holdo who has 25-plus-years in the jewellery and watch industry. Meshell Holdo, who had been the company’s top sales associate became vice president in January 2004.

Both bring unique assets and areas of expertise to the company. Nelson specializes in diamonds and colored gems and Meshell provides expert consultations in creating a jewellery wardrobe. Nelson is a member of the American Gem Society, is highly educated in gemology and holds numerous certifications. The team’s dedication to ongoing education in the field takes them all over the world to learn about the latest developments in fine jewellery and timepieces.

At Asanti, customers are treated like family. They provide relationship-based service in which they get to know their clients on a personal level. In fact, they often select jewellery pieces for the store with particular clients in mind. In addition, Asanti offers several unique services including personal shopping, reminder calls about upcoming special occasions and in-store safe deposit boxes, which are free to clients. Asanti also hosts several events for clients throughout the year, from trunk shows to men’s poker parties to concerts to ladies’ wish list evenings.

Devoted to supporting the local community, Nelson and Meshell are members of and sponsors for numerous organizations including the Junior League of Pasadena, the National Charity League of San Marino, the Circle of Huntington Hospital, Foothill Family Services, Hillsides Home for Children, KidSpace Museum, the Huntington Library and Mayfield Schools. Asanti has become renowned for its outstanding merchandise and having unique world-class gems. In fact, each piece at Asanti is personally selected by one of the partners.
